The Swedish furniture store has announced a strategic partnership with Chinese tech giants Xiaomi. The two companies want to work together in the smart home space, which could turn out to be profitable for both.

IKEA is a major player in this country and already represented in the Smart Home area with its own TRÅDFRI system. However, the range currently mainly includes light bulbs, even if smart sockets, blinds and Co are in the starting blocks.
Together with Xiaomi, in this country especially for the much appreciated robotic suction robot Roborock S50, is mainly in China a big number in the smart home area. As a first result of the collaboration, IKEA’s products will be integrated into Xiaomi’s IoT platform. This is not important for us, as language assistant XiaoAI plays no role in this country.
But there are more things to follow, so we are curious may be what IKEA and Xiaomi still expect. Let’s only hope that further results from this new strategic partnership will not take so long as with IKEA and Sonos, which has so far brought no results.
